Peter 

Peter R. Teahen, President of Teahen Funeral Homes, is a Funeral Director and a Certified Traumatologist.  Peter obtained his Bachelors of Business Administration degree, with an emphasis on Religion at Coe College in Cedar Rapids.  Peter continued the Teahen family funeral service tradition by completing his mortuary education at Worsham College of Mortuary Science and joined Teahen Funeral Home as a funeral director in 1974.  Peter  volunteers extensively on both the community, national, and international levels.  Peter lives in Cedar Rapids. Peter is the recipient of several national and international awards including the:

National Public Spirit Award.  Previous recipients include Ronald Reagan, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Ann Landers, and Dr. Robert Schuller.

Elizabeth (Beth) Teahen was a 2001 graduate of Mt. Mercy College where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations.  She went on to Worsham College of Mortuary Science where she received an Associate of Science degree in Mortuary Science in 2003.  Beth continues the family tradition of funeral service by being the third generation funeral director for Teahen Funeral Homes.

She is a Big, with Big Brothers Big Sisters.      

Beth lives in Cedar Rapids, with her husband Luke, who is a Newton Fireman and Paramedic.

John Wesley “J.W.” Kissling grew up in Toddville, Iowa.  He graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in Cincinnati, Ohio, with a Bachelors Degree in Mortuary Science.  J.W. began his career with Teahen Funeral Homes in 2002.

In 2003, J.W. joined the Cedar Rapids Harmony Hawks Barbershop Chorus and enjoys singing in quartets, competing in the Central States Barbershop Competition, and performing in the Harmony Hawks Spring show and gospel concert. He has been a member of the Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Department for over ten years and is a licensed EMT-B

J.W., his wife Bridget, and two children live in the Toddville area.



Gail Livingood was born and raised in northeast Iowa and has lived in Cedar Rapids since 1992.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mount Mercy College.  She has worked medical-surgical, cardiac and telemetry at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Iowa City followed by eight years as a Labor and Delivery/Mother/Baby nurse at Mercy's Birthplace, in Cedar Rapids.  She has also served eight years in the United States Army Reserves as a nurse and resigned her commission in 2005, with the rank of Captain.  She was awarded The Army Commendation Medal for devotion to duty and unwavering dedication to patient care.  Gail has served as PTA president, chairs committees and volunteers at her daughters’ school.

Gail gradated with the first Mortuary Science Class of Des Moines Area Community College in 2005.  Gail joined the staff of funeral directors at Teahen Funeral Homes in January 2006.

Gail and her family live in Cedar Rapids.
